Study of interference models for equitable and efficient use of the geostationary orbit
Abstract
One of the most crucial resolutions passed at WARC-79 was Resolution 3, which called for two sessions of a World Administrative Radio Conference (WARC-ORB). The first session, which is to be held in 1985, is concerned with the planning of space services and associated radio frequency allocations, while the second session, in 1988, will consider the implementation of the decisions of the first session. The present investigation is concerned with interference models which will make an equitable and efficient use of the geostationary orbit possible. Two synthesis programs, called Orbit I and Orbit II, have been developed. Attention is given to current orbit access mechanism and its potential problems, alternative methods, the use of Orbit II for the study of alternative planning methods, and the capability of Orbit II.
