Seismic performance of low-rise light-framed wood buildings
Abstract
The performance of wood structures in earthquakes was presented. Component and building response, and current design philosophy are examined. It is found that wood structures perform adequately when they are symmetric in plan and elevation and have adequate shear walls. Bad performance occurs when there is a lack of or nonsymmetric arrangement of racking walls.
