Hot wire and laser velocimeter studies of turbulent flow at supersonic velocities
Abstract
The set-up of the application of a two dimensional laser Doppler velocimeter to measure supersonic turbulent flow distribution is described. Normal and tangent components of the Reynolds tensor are determined for the case of a turbulent boundary layer and the results are compared with those obtained by hot wire anemometry. Laser data shows lower variance and better reliability.
