Electromechanical study contributing to the formulation of an analog evolutionary model representing nickel-cadmium batteries
Abstract
Nickel cadmium battery open circuit impedance measurements between 0.001 and 1000 Hz, kinetic studies of the dissolution of the separator in KOH solution, and the time evolution of the electrode capacities when subjected to charge-discharge cycles either at constant current or constant voltage are described. The equivalent electrical model shows an assymetry in the representation of the two electrodes. The battery is represented by a circuit implemented by 11 components. It is shown that no single circuit can represent the battery at any load regime.
