A fast high power light pulse generator
Abstract
A device for the production of flashes for high speed photography was developed. Light diodes were used as the light source. The maximum light power per diode is 500 mW in case of coupling with a 1 m long glass monofiber. The pulse frequency reaches 1 MHz, and the pulse duration can be adjusted between 50 nsec and 1 microsec. The light has a wavelength of 660 nm; it is well suited for interference-optical research due to its coherence.
