Holographic assembly for measuring velocity fields of supersonic ballistic splinters at a large distance
Abstract
The flight of splinters at 8 m distance was recorded by holographic system. A field of 50 x 60 cm is recorded with a resolution of the order of 100 micrometers. The energy of the ruby laser is 10 mJ. The assembly may be used for splinters with velocities up to 2000 m/sec. The comparison between a primary photographic image and that of the holographic restitution shows no significant degradation of the image.
