Experimental performance of a digital circuit able to recognize magnetic monopole events
Abstract
A CAMAC digital circuit to identify slow magnetic monopoles crossing a thick scintillator counter and to reject events of any other kind, taking advantage of the different time configurations of the corresponding signals was built. Test results indicate that efficiency is very high in recognizing monopole events and in rejecting a background free from long tailed pulses, less high for a real background. However pulses of that kind can be easily identified by a time shape analysis device associated to any monopole trigger system.
