A possible digital circuit able to recognize magnetic monopoles crossing a thick scintillator counter
Abstract
A CAMAC digital circuit to identify slow magnetic monopoles crossing a thick scintillator counter and to reject events of any other kind, taking advantage of the different time configurations of the corresponding signals is proposed. The circuit identifies a magnetic monopole event when it recognizes that the output signal from a photomultiplier width reproducing discriminator signal is continuous and long enough. The continuity is selected by a suitable preset threshold on a time-gap comparator.
