Calorimeter for measuring high-energy optical pulses
Abstract
Two similar calorimeters for measuring laser pulses in the range 1 kJ to 15 kJ are described. The calorimeters, which are electrically calibrated, can be operated anywhere from the ultraviolet to infrared by selecting the proper materials for the volume absorber and deflecting mirror. Operation of each calorimater is controlled by a dedicated desk top computer. The theoretical basis for the calorimeters is given as are the constructional and operational details. The computer programs that are used are included in the appendices.
