Edge detection in SAR imagery using gradient operators
Abstract
Problems in the detection of edge features on high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images using gradient operators were studied. An algorithm, proposed as a model of the human visual system, which embodied these techniques was investigated and is found to give poor performance on SAR images. This poor performance suggests that edge detection by gradient operators alone is not appropriate for SAR images.
