Ultrasensitive measuring devices
Abstract
Both dc and RF superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs) are widely used as ultrasensitive detectors of magnetic flux. Present research is focussed largely on thin film dc SQUIDs fabricated with photolithographic techniques. The current status of this field is briefly reviewed. The impact of dc SQUIDs with improved sensitivity on noise thermometry and gravitational wave antennas is discussed.
