Computation of the inviscid velocity potential for general ellipsoids on a nearly quadratic surface grid
Abstract
The allocation of input data to calculate stream line  potential line coordinates on spheroids is described. A nearly quadratic surface grid was determined with help of parallel cuts through the spheroid and uniform distribution of points on the intersecting ellipses. After generating a satisfactory grid, the inviscid velocity potential is calculated analytically at each grid point. Grid points and corresponding velocity potential values yield the required input data for a streamline calculation. All computer programs are given.
