Analysis of the heating process of a body in a melt
Abstract
A mathematical model describing the heating of a body in a melt is derived on the assumption that the temperature variation in the solidified layer is quasistationary in character. It enables the duration of the period in which the solidified layer exists to be represented in the form of a function of dimensionless variables. Known analytical solutions of thermal conduction equations can be used in analyzing this function in certain limiting cases.
