Analysis of the heating process of a body in a melt
Abstract
A mathematical model describing the heating of a body in a melt is derived on the assumption that the temperature variation in the solidified layer is quasi-stationary in character. It enables the duration of the period in which the solidified layer exists to be represented in the form of a function of dimensionless variables. Known analytical solutions of thermal conduction equations can be used in analyzing this function in certain limiting cases.
