Instability of film boiling of moving liquids
Abstract
The effect of the motion of a liquid on the development of a film boiling instability is analyzed using a nonlinear model. In particular, the boiling of a saturated liquid moving along a vertical surface is considered. The problem of determining the conditions for an interface instability is reduced to an analysis of a dispersion equation. It is shown that an increase in the liquid velocity leads to an increase in the phase velocity, while the interface wave length decreases.
