Turbulent shear fields for dispersion of aqueous drops in organic liquids and application to gel-sphere processes
Abstract
Gel sphere processes which require the formation of aqueous drops in organic liquids with controlled and predictable diameters are discussed. Three types of turbulent shear devices, a simple tube, motionless mixer units, and a rotating annular disperser with couette flow, were applied. The size distribution data are correlated by dimensionless equations of similar forms.
