Earthquake engineering facilities and instrumentation
Abstract
The need for large scale experimental earthquake engineering facilities and instrumentation is reviewed. The feasibility of meeting the perceived need are determined and the priorities for a U.S. program to fill the need are assessed. Conclusions and recommendations are provided regarding: (1) a research/educational base, (2) full or nearly full scale data, (3) experimental facilities, (4) computer modeling, (5) use of Japanese facilities, and (6) operational funding and program management.
