Special features of the formation of a bed of polydispersed free-flowing materials
Abstract
Two relations are derived that characterize the distribution of particles of a free-flowing material over the height of a bed being formed, in particular of sintering mix on the strand. The relations are analyzed and the mathematical models are compared with real systems comprising a roller feeder and charging chute or a vibrating feeder and charging chute. It is concluded that the formation process of the bed is influenced mainly by its physico-mechanical properties and the slope of the charging chute.
