Calculation of the performance of an RF excited transverse flow CO2 laser
Abstract
A theoretical model based on a kinetic four temperature model and the gasdynamic conservation equations for the prediction of the performance of an electrically excited transverse flow CO2 laser is described. The effects of gas mixture, flow velocity, pressure, temperature, and the characteristic properties of the electric discharge on small signal gain and saturation intensity were investigated. Good agreement is obtained between theory and the experimental measurements performed with an RF-excited transverse flow CO2 laser.
