VLSI systems of digital signal processing for consumer applications
Abstract
Digital signal processing for consumer application video tape recorders to improve noise reduction, dropout compensation and time-base correction is treated. Circuits with complex function units were developed to reduce basic cells, such as adders and registers. Very large scale integration component chip areas were minimized to increase the number of functions per chip. An improved picture quality of video tape recorders with NMOS-VLSI circuits in playback mode is achieved. These circuits can be run at a clock rate up to 20 Mc/sec.
