Perceived C/U ratio measuring equipment for TV ghost images
Abstract
A psycho-physical quantity Perceived D/U Ratio (PDUR) is proposed, by which the quality of pictures impaired by ghosts can be objectively determined. The PDUR measuring equipment is developed using digital techniques involving a microprocessor, which makes it possible to measure PDUR in the field within 60 seconds for each TV channel. The measured accuracy of PDUR is within + or - 2 dB at less than 30 dB PDUR. This accuracy is sufficient for practical use. The equipment, principles of measurement involved, and performance are described.
