Investigation of the characteristics of a ventilated transparent shield
Abstract
The use of ventilation of double windows with ionized air to improve cooling in situations where they are acting as shields to improve the work-place environment is discussed in the light of model experiments. The experiments showed that with the same air flow rate the electrohydrodynamic method of cooling makes the shield more effective, and could therefore find application in cases when an increase in air fow rate in the hydrodynamic method is no longer effective. On the basis of a published hypothesis of the electrohydrodynamic method, confirmed by the experiments, empirical formulae are derived for engineering calculations on cooling shields.
