Evaluation of the effect of non-metallic inclusions in steel electrodes on the frequency of flashbacks in mercury-arc rectifiers
Abstract
The effects of nonmetallic inclusions in the steel anode and the frequency of flashbacks are investigated using an experimental tube with a mercury cathode. Given an atmosphere of rarefied inert gas it is discovered that sulphide inclusions have the greatest effect on flashbacks, and silicate inclusions have the least effect.
