New lasers for analytical and industrial chemistry; Proceedings of the Meeting, Los Angeles, CA, January 26, 27, 1984
Abstract
Infrared laser systems and applications are discussed, taking into account recent advances in lead salt laser technology and the implications for gas analysis, an overview of tunable diode laser technology, broadly tunable midinfrared radiation by difference frequency mixing, an overview of high power CO2 laser technology, future prospects for visible and infrared color center lasers, and progress in optical parametric oscillators. Other subjects considered are related to excimer lasers and applications, vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and soft X-ray lasers, and new solid state lasers in the visible and near infrared. Attention is given to applications of excimer lasers for atmospheric species measurements, the generation of 35 nm coherent radiation, the generation of coherent extreme ultraviolet and vacuum ultraviolet radiation using pulsed nozzles, short wavelength generation using excimer lasers, and an overview of chromium doped tunable vibronic lasers.
