Estimate of signal-to-interference energy ratio in discrete-data transmission
Abstract
Algorithms of maximum-likelihood estimation of signal-to-noise ratio are developed for channels with a transmission coefficient that is constant in the estimation interval and for channels with Rayleigh fadings in the case of data transmission by orthogonal signals. Algorithms which are easy to realize and have an efficiency similar to that of the maximum-likelihood algorithms are examined. Results of the statistical simulation of the operation of the algorithms are discussed, and recommendations on the practical application of the results are presented.
