Investigation of plane phased array of piezoelectric transducers with one-lobe directivity diagram
Abstract
Experimental results are presented which demonstrate that it is possible to construct plane phased arrays of piezotransducers with a one lobe directivity pattern, operating on a solid state acoustic line. The device comprises relatively thick buffer layers made of materials whose sound velocities differ slightly and whose acoustic impedances are close to the impedance of the acoustic line: the phase character of each buffer is linear. The characteristics of the array are measured using an acousto-optic deflector.
