Wideband matching of waveguides containing materials with a high value of epsilon
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental results are presented concerning the wideband matching of a hollow waveguide and a partially loaded waveguide (PLW) containing an isotropic-dielectric plate in the E-plane. The matching is effected through two- or three-step inhomogeneities in the form of PLW strips with different dielectrics. The reduction method is used to solve equations for the unknown vectors of the amplitudes of forward and reflected waves in the internal regions. Transverse electric field distributions are presented for a frequency of 9.3 GHz. The results are pertinent to the use of dielectric and semiconductor materials of high permittivity (epsilon not less than 10) in distributed microwave (mm and cm wave) structures.
