The gain of a TWT with a field-phase jump
Abstract
A matrix method in the linear approximation is used to derive an expression for the gain of a traveling wave tube with a phase jump of the HF field. The method is described, and relationships are presented for the analysis of the gain of a TWT with jumps of phase and phase velocity. It is shown that the phase jump can lead either to an increase or to a decrease in the change of the frequency characteristics of the gain factor.
