Intrinsic polarization basis of a radar target observed by a system with diversity reception

Calculations show that the intrinsic polarization basis of a radar target in the case of diversity reception is, in general, elliptical and nonorthogonal. A method is proposed which makes it possible to determine the parameters of the intrinsic polarization basis and the elements of the polarization scattering matrix (PSM) in this basis from measured PSM elements of the target in the case of diversity reception.
