Detection of an extended object in the Fresnel zone of the antenna of a multichannel receiving system
Abstract
An analysis is made of the detection of an extended diffusely reflecting object on a background of spatial-temporal white noise by a quasi-optimal radar processing system that is matched with the signal from a point object in the Fresnel zone of the antenna. The effect of the parameters of the object and of the receiving antenna on the detection characteristics is evaluated, and the matched system is compared with the optimal one. It is concluded that the matched system, which is quasi-optimal with respect to obtaining radar images of extended objects, can also be used to detect such objects in the case of relatively small energy losses.
