Ionospheric distortions of digital signals with wideband modulation
Abstract
The paper determines energy losses for the coherent convolution of wideband digital microwave signals (e.g., PSK pseudonoise or coherent frequency-time signals) due to ionospheric dispersion and fluctuations of signal arrival time. It is shown that arrival-time fluctuations can have a dominant effect at decimeter and meter wavelengths.
