Analysis and synthesis of a modulated corrugated structure excited by electric and magnetic currents
Abstract
A two-dimensional model, comprising an infinite modulated corrugated structure excited periodically or aperiodically by a specified distribution of electric and magnetic currents, is used to verify the possibility of applying corrugated structures to large phase antenna grids for restricted scanning. An expression for the partial radiation pattern of the structure is derived; the partial radiation pattern of a flat-top shape is synthesized through the selection of short-circuit device location. The radiation pattern level in the secondary maxima region is given as -13 dB for the cases considered, which is pointed out to be acceptable.
