Diffraction properties of a dielectric rod in a circular waveguide
Abstract
A theoretical analysis is made of the characteristics of H11-wave diffraction by a dielectric rod in a circular waveguide. Frequency dependences of the power transmission coefficients in the presence and in the absence of complex modes in the spectrum of a screened dielectric waveguide are presented. The lower resonance minima of the transmission coefficient, classified as transverse resonances, are analyzed. It is shown that an additional resonance minimum appears in the case of complex modes. The structure of the transverse-resonance field is examined in detail for two limiting values of rod thickness.
