Investigation of the generation of oscillations via the anomalous Doppler effect
Abstract
A nonrelativistic beam device was used to generate slow cyclotron waves via the anomalous Doppler effect. The generation is shown to be accompanied by an increase in the energy of the transverse motion of the electron beam. Particular consideration is given to an investigation of the relationship between the total energy of the cyclotron wave and the kinetic energy of the transverse motion. A simple form of this relationship is established theoretically and experimentally: irrespective of the beam configuration and the type of excited cyclotron mode, it is equal to the ratio of the wave frequency to the electron cyclotron frequency.
