Stabilization of oscillations in a two-mode gyrotron
Abstract
Nonstationary processes in a two-mode gyrotron are investigated on the basis of a self-consistent system of equations of electron motion and mode excitation. Numerical results are presented for the case of two modes resonant with the first gyrofrequency harmonic and for the case of modes resonant with different gyrofrequency harmonics. It is shown that one-mode oscillations are stable in efficiency-optimal conditions, and that it is possible to achieve stable two-mode oscillation in gyrotrons, i.e., it is possible to generate modes resonant with one and with different gyrofrequency harmonics at sufficiently high beam currents.
