Analysis of the aging of SAW resonators
Abstract
The diffusion spreading of the electrodes of interdigital SAW transducers is investigated. In the case of an oscillator with a SAW resonator, an explanation is given for the differences in the signs of the aging-related drifts of frequency when using gold and aluminum transducers, these differences being due to differences in the characteristics of the local reflection of the acoustic wave from the electrodes. The flicker fluctuation method is used to explain the logarithmic character of frequency changes with time. Numerical results are found to agree with available experimental data, and the advantages of transducers with thick electrodes are indicated.
