Klystron method for the bunching of a hollow rotating relativistic electron beam
Abstract
It is shown tnat a continuous beam of high-energy electrons can be restructured into a beam of discrete bunches by the formation of helical electron trajectories with accumulation of the main energy in rotational motion and by the use of a bunching resonator of klystron type. The relationship between the translational component of electron velocity and the increment of energy in the buncher gap is determined. It is shown that this relationship points to the formal similarity between the bunching of a hollow rotating relativistic electron beam and the bunching of a rectilinear beam of conditional hyperparticles whose charge is equal to the electron charge and whose mass is somewhat less than the relativistic mass of the hollow-beam electrons.
