Reflection and excitation of direct bulk magnetostatic waves by a metal strip
Abstract
The reflection of direct bulk magnetostatic waves (DBMWs) in a normally magnetized ferrite film from a strip of ideal, infinitely thin metal is investigated on the basis of a Fredholm equation of the second kind for the surface current flowing along the strip. A computer-aided solution to this equation is used to determine the distribution of current induced by the incident wave, to calculate the reflection and transmission coefficients, and to examine their dependence on the length of the incident wave and the width of the strip. The formalism developed in the analysis of reflection makes it possible to study the excitation of the DBMWs. The current distribution on the strip is determined in the case when the total current through this strip, exciting the magnetostatic waves, is given, and the radiation resistance is calculated.
