Corrected model of the extinction of the Gunn domain and quenched-mode dynamics
Abstract
A theoretical investigation is made of the quenching of the strong-field domain in a Gunn diode under the effect of harmonic voltage. The quasi-static approximation is used to analyze the dependence of the total time of quenching on the alternating-signal amplitude and frequency, and solutions are obtained for excess voltage on the domain and the form of current through the diode. This approach makes it possible to calculate the dynamic characteristics of a Gunn oscillator in the quenching mode. The results obtained are compared with similar calculations in the case of simplified approximations.
