Investigation of the radiation patterns of circular antenna arrays with random arrangement of the elements
Abstract
A statistical analysis of the patterns of convex highly directional arrays with random arrangement of the elements is carried out. General formulas are obtained which can be used to design circular arrays with random arrangement of elements, considered as a particular case of convex random antennas. Expressions are presented for the mean and boundary patterns and admissible sparseness of a random phased array in relation to the number of elements of an unexcited array for a given level of far sidelobes. Theoretical results are confirmed by the optical simulation of the patterns of circular random antennas.
