An Xe-He optical amplifier with transverse HF excitation
Abstract
Experimental data are presented on the effect of the gas-filling parameters and pump intensity on the characteristics of an Xe-He optical amplifier with transverse high-frequency discharge excitation operating at a wavelength of 3.51 microns. The optimum parameters of the gas mixture and pumping conditions are determined. The optimum pumping conditions and the maximum gain under high-frequency discharge excitation are compared with the values typical of pumping with a dc discharge.
