Estimation of the location of a point target in the Fresnel zone of a receiving antenna
Abstract
An analysis is made of the characteristics of the maximum likelihood estimation of both the range and angular location of a target with allowance for anomalous errors in the a priori domain of arbitrary dimensions. Allowance is also made for the variability of the resolution of the receiving system with respect to the estimated parameters as the location of the target changes. The optimization of a two-position discrete-continuous antenna is considered for the case of range estimation.
