The frequency dependence of the maximum power of an M-type traveling wave tube
Abstract
The paper examines the frequency dependence of the maximum power of an M-type TWT as conditioned by such physical and technological constraints as the possibility of obtaining high values of wave delay and limiting values of magnetic induction in the working gap, the electrical stability of the device, and the temperature constraint. It is shown that the most rigid constraint is the temperature one, which determines the general law of the decrease of maximum power with frequency as Pf exp 8/3 = constant.
