Measurement of the stimulated-emission cross section of the CO2 molecule by the modulation method in a waveguide laser
Abstract
An analysis is made of the feasibility of using the modulation method to determine the sigma-32 stimulated-emission cross sections of CO2 on lines of the vibrational-rotational transition 00(0)1-10(0)0 in a waveguide laser. Three variants of the measurement method are considered for the 6-26 kPa pressure range of the active medium for different component mixtures. It is shown that the highest accuracy is achieved in a measurement scheme based on the frequency dependences of the modulation depths of output emission at a wavelength of 10.6 microns as the current density of active-medium pumping is modulated. Measured values of the cross section are compared with calculated values.
