Asymptotic theory of laminar separation on a moving surface
Abstract
A theoretical study is made of the steady flow of a viscous incompressible fluid at the point of boundary layer separation on a solid surface moving downstream at constant velocity. It is shown that separation occurs in a region lying downstream of the interaction region. The pressure distribution in this region is determined by solving the boundary value problem for the boundary layer equations with a prescribed displacement thickness.
