A class of exact solutions with homogeneous deformation in gas dynamics
Abstract
A new exact solution is presented which describes the motion of a rotating gas ellipsoid with a constant semiaxis ratio (for an adiabatic exponent of 5/3). The structure of the solution proposed here is somewhat similar to that of solutions for an ellipsoid of a homogeneous incompressible self-gravitating ideal liquid that have been obtained in studies related to the theory of equilibrium figures (Riemann, 1948; Chandrasekhar, 1973).
