a Measurement of the Total Cross Section of Charged Current Neutrino Interactions.
We performed a flux-normalized measurement of the ratio <(sigma)(,tot)/E(,(nu))> for neutrinos interacting with nucleons via the charged-current channel, using a narrow-band neutrino beam and the FNAL 15' Bubble Chamber filled with a heavy Neon mixture. The result from 844 (nu)(,(mu)) events in the energy range 10-240 Gev is (sigma)(,tot)/E(,(nu)) = (0.62 (+OR-) 0.02 (+OR-) 0.04) x 10('-38)cm('2)/Gev. No evidence is seen for any departure from linear increase of (sigma)(,tot) with E(,(nu)). *National Science Foundation NSF PHY 81-07116.
