Transient analysis of loaded thin-wire antennas and transmission lines
Abstract
Analytical time-domain solutions for thin-wire cylindrical antennas and transmission lines based upon the singularity expansion method (SEM) are obtained, and the effects of impedance loading on the transient behavior of these structures are investigated. An SEM analysis of a terminated transmission line as well as a transmission line with an arbitrarily located load is presented. Equipped with an approximate freqeuncy-domain expression for the current, a theory for determining analytical time-domain SEM solutions for an unloaded as well as a loaded thin-wire cylindrical antenna is presented. Excellent agreement between the results from this approximate analytical theory and the numerical works is obtained for an antenna with the antenna parameter omega = to or 9.
