Certain problems in the theory of viscous jets
Abstract
Reference is made to several known self-similar solutions to the problem concerning the propagation of a submerged two-dimensional laminar jet, and it is noted that these solutions have a singularity when x approaches zero. A new solution to the problem is proposed which is valid for various boundary conditions, ambient and surface temperatures, and Prandtl numbers. It is shown that all the approximate self-similar solutions obtained previously are particular cases of the solution proposed here.
