On the existence of an extended atmosphere in the delta Sct-type starVZ Cnc.
Abstract
The existence of an extended pulsating atmosphere in the δ Sct-type star VZ Cnc has been found. The outer layers of the atmosphere are cooling due to Hα-line radiation during 1.5×104 s after passing the shock wave which induces the emission. The star radius, shock wave characteristics and physical conditions in the radiatively cooling layer are determined.
