Rotation measure of the H2O maser outburst region in Orion KL.
Abstract
Measurements in October, 1983, indicate that the polarization angle of the H2O-maser emission in the Kleinmann-Low nebula varies over the line profile by 0.5 deg/kHz. The rotation measure is estimated to be 5.3 x 10 to the 8th rad/sq m. The integrated flare emission, whose line halfwidth is 47.7 kHz, is depolarized by only a few percent. Linearly polarized maser emission in the 18-cm OH lines is not observable in Orion-KL.
